APRIL 2022

  • 12/04/2022 | New eshops added to resource hub

    • Several new listings have been added to the Halal food in the Czech Republic section. This also includes several eshops that can deliver various oriental goods to Olomouc via post. Delivery of fresh and frozen food however, is not possible from Prague-based businesses.

  • 09/04/2022 | Board fix, ongoing dehumidification of boiler leak

    • The cork board of the hallway has been repaired

    • Due to a boiler leakage on the upstairs floor, the kitchen/bathroom area has been experiencing a leak and requires constant dehumidification to ensure adequate dryness. Repair is expected soon by the building owner.

  • 07/04/2022 | New curtain rod installed for the sisters' side of the main prayer hall

    • A curtain rod has been properly installed at the sisters' side of the prayer hall and now ensures the adequate privacy needs for sisters who wish to pray in private.

MARCH 2022

  • 28/03/2022 | New additions to the Czech resource hub

    • More links have been added to the resource hub, including a Slovak islamic e-shop which allows delivery to the Czech Republic.

  • 27/03/2022 | Change of Jummah timing

    • Jummah times have changed back to 13:30

  • 11/03/2022 | Updated OMC meat stock

    • The current meat stock has been updated

JANUARY 2022

  • 14/01/2022 | Adjustments to meat runs, full year prayer calender uploaded

    • Following new agreements with the butcher, it is now possible to order a greater variety of goods. Following further feedback, slight adjustments have been made to the meat run policy which can be seen on the halal meat orders page.

    • A full 2022 spreadsheet for prayer times have been uploaded in the prayer times page.

NOVEMBER 2021

  • 03/11/2021 | New policy on meat runs, new lights in study room

    • All the light bulbs in the study room have been replaced with brighter, neutral-white LED bulbs. These were kindly donated by a student from the community.

    • Following feedback and experiences gained from previous meat runs, the order form has been updated with simpler order choices, a fairer price and delivery fee that reflects the rising fuel cost and labour associated with meat runs. Currently the deadline for orders is by 12th November.

OCTOBER 2021

  • 30/10/2021 | Re-arrangement of the study room

    • The study room has been re-organised and the total study capacity has increased from 7 to 9 spaces. An extra desk has been added as well.

  • 20/10/2021 | New snack corner, study materials and OMC fundraising for MSF

    • A corner of the study room has been reserved for drinks and snacks that students may bring in and to share with everyone. Organic honey from a beekeeper is also available in the kitchen for shared use.

    • Some physically printed and spiral bound notes for several medical subjects have been donated and added to the library.

    • The OMC has taken the initiative to raise some funds for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without borders). A small donation box is kept at the masjid for anyone wishing to donate.

  • 14/10/2021 | New fridge in the kitchen

    • A brand new fridge has been donated to Al-Firdaus for common usage. It will be used to store milk for tea, some common snacks and food for those who stay long hours in the study room.

  • 11/10/2021 | New iMac computer in the study room

    • An iMac computer was generously donated for use in the study room. It is fully set up with a keyboard, trackpad and mouse. Those who are connected to the WiFi at Al-Firdaus can now print from their phones or laptops through the iMac.

    • The iMac also contains over 2TB of storage space, some students from the medical faculty have transferred their notes and study materials to it. It is freely available for other students to access and copy to their devices.

  • 8/10/2021 | Carpets have been applied to the walls + extra pillows

    • As we had plenty of spare carpets, we have fitted them around the walls of the prayer hall. Pictures in the gallery have been updated to correspond to the changes.

  • 6/10/2021 | Carpet re-adjustment

    • A local brother with past carpentry experience helped us at the masjid to re-fit the carpets. The majority of minor gaps and mis-cuts have been corrected.

  • 03/10/2021 | New catalogue for available books

    • A "Catalogue of books" page has been added to the "Study room" section of the website, which contains a list of all the available books in the study room for reading.

    • Minor corrections on the website.

SEPTEMBER 2021

  • 21/09/2021 | The study room is now open

    • The minor renovations have been completed. New pictures have been added to the gallery.

    • The study room is now open for use by students. Access is available to those who request it (Study room reservation).

    • Over 50 medical books have been donated for use at the study room. A full catalogue will be available on the website soon Insha'Allah.

    • For the time being, printing is available only in black and white.

    • The layout of the study room has been adapted for easy prayer access.

  • 18/09/2021 | New changes to the website

    • A "Feedback & Comments" section has been added to the website. You can now anonymously send your comments and give feedback to the OMC. Your suggestions are always welcomed.

    • New prayer widget on the homepage shows prayer times both in English and Czech language. The timings of prayers correspond to those given by islamweb.cz for the city of Olomouc.

    • You can now view our Instagram stories via the "News and Announcements" section. They will be accessible only if new stories have been posted on our Instagram account.

  • 13/09/2021 | Our website goes public

    • The Olomouc Muslim Community is proud to announce that www.alfirdaus.cz is finally here!

    • Please note that the website is currently undergoing some minor adjustments. The Czech version of the website is still in the process of being checked for any language or grammar errors by our native Czech speakers.

  • 10/09/2021 | Update on the renovations at Al-Firdaus

    • In July 2021, the OMC got in touch with Taqwa Carpets, a carpet company based in the UK. They kindly donated their high quality mosque carpets which now adorn the Al-Firdaus. The generous gesture of Taqwa Carpets completely changed the look of the main prayer hall. Prior to this, the Muslim community used single prayer mats which are still available for anyone who wants to use the study room to pray.

    • The next phase of the renovations now focuses mainly on re-painting the study room and the kitchenette, some detail work on the newly fitted mosque carpets and some other minor works consisting mainly of cleaning up, securing new decorations and providing the study room with more free-to-use books.
